President’s Day

February 15th, 2010

Today is Presidents Day. I feel like I wrote about this last year. Do you think Presiden’s Day is a good holiday? I mean we have off and celebrate what exactly? It is the birthday of George Washington, our first president, of course. It was at first designed for his birthday. Then Abe Lincoln was born in February. They were both great presidents so people decided to celebrate both their birthday in one day. In 1968 the term President’s Day was for legal consideration in Congress but was shot down. In the 1980′s the term was brought up again, Congress passed it and it became a holiday name in American culture. Today, a few of American people prefer to call the holiday Washington’s Birthday in instead of President’s Day. My opinion is that I do think it is a good idea to put two holidays into one so people don’t get confused.
