Endless Bullying

April 28th, 2010

What used to be a schoolyard dispute has now, with the internet and cell phones, become a twenty-four hour onslaught of bullying. The unfortunate side-effect of technology is that, whatever the benefit, it brings with it some type of negative. In this case, bullying is a lot more common, a lot more severe, and a lot more dangerous than before. In this month’s issue of Switched On, Ally talks about the horrible consequences bullying can have, even when it starts as something as seemingly harmless as joking with someone. If you’re being bullied, or know someone who is being bullied, you should know that the National Runaway Switchboard is there for you. We can help talk about what’s going on and what to do about it. While nobody should be getting bullied, that’s not the case. But by calling NRS and letting us help, we can start to change that.
