Partying

Tuesday, February 14th, 2012

There are always parties at the end of school years, knowing which are safe and which aren’t is just as important. There is always some risk when going to an unknown area, so be sure that the place you’re going to is safe and that if anything occurs you have a way to get home safely. House parties may contain drugs and alcohol and being caught in the middle isn’t what you want, especially if you’re under age. Knowing that senior year is coming to an end soon, people may begin to get lazier and begin to procrastinate more. Some colleges can revoke your acceptance if your second semester is lower than your first semester, so be cautious it does matter just as much that you don’t begin to party before the school year concludes. Partying is fun; we get to socialize and network with others and spend time away from our worries. If you do things you don’t intend to do at a party by getting wasted than this can lead to more difficulties. So be cautious this time of year, I’ve seen many people NOT graduate due to slacking off and getting caught in fights, or drugs and alcohol.

Scheduling Success

How many of you can relate to this? Do you get into more trouble when you have free time? I know that this is the case with me. When I have time with which I can do as I please, I have more trouble dealing with issues such as addiction and depression. What I have been doing lately to combat this, is to fill up as much of my time as possible. I start by trying to find things that need doing. If I have no obligations then I try to make them. Some of the ways I keep my time occupied is through art, writing, music, dance, learning, reading, and other media. The easiest way that I have found to do this is with productive activities such as job searching, volunteer work, community groups and the like. Yet inevitably I find times when I can’t job hunt, volunteer, or go to a poetry group. When I am on my own with nothing to focus on I tend to focus on things that can lead to a destructive mind state. Also, when I am busy I have less time to focus on these things. So if you find that free time in an influence or factor in the parts of your life you wish to rid yourself of, consider turning to things that make you feel good about yourself or just plain need doing. This has helped me stay out of poor situation s and I hope is helps you.

Drunk Driving

Saturday, February 4th, 2012

Drunk Driving is something that we all hear of and think that it may be a joke. Although not realizing it, it’s fairly common and very tragic especially if you’re the one who’s committing the crime. It’s not just about the cops, fines, and jail time, but it’s about the other families as well. The shame and guilt from it that you may end up with, going to a party is good but if your under age, drinking, and driving your in for a lot of negative consequences. Your family will be upset with having to know that in the case you were in an accident that you may or may not have been hurt as well as having it on record for the rest of your life. If indeed you hit someone else, the severity of the other person’s damage may cause a lot of pain for them and their family. I know someone who’s lost a friend do to drunk driving, and now they are in a lot of pain because it was a cause of hit-and-run, meaning the person hit the car and fled from the scene. This caused great anger to the family and friends of the person because his life could have been saved, but now is lost because of a person’s negligence. So be wise when you go out and have fun, don’t be in a party full of alcohol because you can still be charged by the police even if you didn’t drink, and if you drink and drive it may just be the end of someone else’s night and not just yours.

Consequences for Drinking

Sunday, October 16th, 2011

Why would we drink alcohol underage? To soothe stress? To deal with emotions? To wonder what it feels like? To become popular? Peer pressure? All of these are reasons why we would drink underage. Underage drinking can scar your liver, destroy your brain cells, enhances the activities of the gamma aminobutyric acid and weaken glutamine. As a result, the person’s behavior becomes torpid. That means if you drink, you become loony. This also cause Alzheimer disease, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson disease, which all of them can lead to death, or serious illness. This all may sound confusing, but what I’m trying to say is that drinking underage won’t get you far. Neither will booze, a cruise, which will make you lose.
