Changes For Better

Thursday, January 26th, 2012

To meet the goals that I have set I have started making little changes in my day for better. I have been told it is a better choice than what I was doing before. I have started studying for an hour every day. Doing something school related, like homework, studying, and going over notes and stuff. I have noticed a change in grades from like C’s to B’s, for now soon to be A’s. Also working out an hour a day. Making the most out my time I have. On weekends I haven’t made many changes I’m still mostly chillin. I am even changing my eating habits. Cutting back on chips and fries and fatty food. Just chicken, meat, and milk, and vegatables. A lot of lean foods, and I am feeling leaner to. I am still kind of iffy on it but I am seeing results so I am going to stick to it.

Dentist’s Office

Monday, January 23rd, 2012

I had to go to the dentist last week, which is always a harrowing ordeal. First of all, there’s a buildup that makes me really nervous. I have to schedule the appointment, confirm the appointment, travel to the appointment, and sit in the waiting room, all the while thinking about how any of my seemingly healthy teeth could be secretly harboring a cavity or some other dental monstrosity. Then, when I finally get in the patient’s chair, with the sun-like light bulb shining directly in my eyes, I start perspiring as the dentist sternly tells me, with a tone of disappointment and disgust, that I clearly have not familiarized myself with the concept, much less the practice, of flossing (I do floss, but I think I have the mechanics wrong or something, because the dentist would not believe my assertions). It strikes me as strange that dentists are so direct with their patients and will baldly tell them to stop eating so much sugar, while doctors tend to be nice and roundabout and avoid telling the patient to stop shoving fast food in their mouths. In any case, regardless of my poor flossing technique, I escaped the dentist’s office with nary a cavity, which gave me a satisfied smile that I imagine creeped a couple people out on the train ride home.

Pigging out

Sunday, January 22nd, 2012

Eating healthy is something many people talk to us about in many places that we may not necessarily listen too. It’s something that has become a very important topic in many places especially here in America. It’s not just about what we eat when we eat with friends, but when we eat in schools, with family, or by ourselves. Eating right isn’t just about watching our weight but about our body in the inside as well. In order to maintain a good healthy body we have to learn to eat right. Eating right can prevent many diseases as well as illnesses that we may come upon. So try to drink less soda and more water, try to eat fewer Chips and go for some fruits. Do small changes that can help your body in the long run.

Eat Like a Rabbit, Not a Habit

Monday, November 21st, 2011

A friend tells me that eating salads, or other health-oriented items so plainly presented, makes her feel like a cow, and so she doesn’t eat them. How that logic works makes no sense to me, possibly having something to do with the way a cow chews its cud, or maybe just the way they eat grass. In any case, I don’t see how eating healthily can be a negative thing. All foods can be healthy, in moderation. I’d rather be a cow by those standards; at least they eat as much as they need to, without eating because they simply feel like it. Cows are big by nature, because they’re sturdy. I think people should take a hint from them, or even from most animals, and just eat as you should, not as you feel. Why don’t we get rid of the logic that says because a cow is big it must overeat, and at the same time, clear the misconception that eating often is the same as eating in excess. Miseducation rears its ugly head again. I say we tomato it, and then tomato ourselves. Even I throw them into the mix, and I hate them, because I know that I’ll benefit from them in the future. Eat like a rabbit, not a habit. And for those you who dare, eat like a cow.
